"...though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials ... you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory..." - Peter 1:6-8
Why does God let us go through challenges? When we're following Him, why doesn't He make things easy for us?
Paul and James have some well-known (for good reason) insights, but sometimes we forget about Peter. Peter was the guy who had been discipled by Jesus, who told Jesus off when he warned them that a storm was coming. As an older man, through the power of the Holy Spirit living within him, Peter encourages us that God uses these tough times (that will come to an end) to produce faith within us that is beautiful and eternally precious.
It's ok to go through hard times and feel it, but the difficulties are also meaningful, and not a mistake. God knows what He's doing, He loves us, and He's got our back.
