Arriving in Paraguay

Update:

The weeks since our last update have been very busy and eventful. Our flights went well, and we arrived smoothly in Asuncion on January 17. We lived in temporary housing for a few weeks, until we could rent and move into our own home. By God's grace, we were able to find a nice home with enough space for our family, close to the kids' school (which will cut down our time commuting once classes go back to in-person). We have also found most of the furnishings we need for our home.

Our kids went back to school online shortly after we arrived, and have already completed almost 1/4 of the second semester. They are cautiously optimistic about being able to go back to the classrooms at least a few days a week after Easter.

We have begun building relationships as best we can during a pandemic, especially with our teammates and local pastors. We are also starting to build relationships with the Paraguayans and other foreigners in our area, although this process has been a little slower under the current conditions.

We have been happy to get to know many of the local pastors and church leaders here in Paraguay. There is a general sense of energy and excitement about the future, with local believers creating concrete plans for outreach and church-planting. We are happy to be here to be a part of what God is doing among these brothers and sisters.

We look forward to ramping up our Spanish acquisition with in-person tutoring starting soon. We are grateful to God for the distance-learning options that have been available to us during the past year, but also very grateful for the upcoming opportunity to sit across the (6-foot) table and learn from someone who is in the room with us.

Thank you so much for all of your prayer for us! We are continuing in our transition to our new home. We look forward to telling you more in the months to come about the things God is doing here in Paraguay.
